A new Maserati Levante GTS is set to join the SUV"s range, and we"ve spotted it testing for the second time. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo rival is expected to boast well over 500bhp when it arrives in mid-2018.
Other than the usual swirly body disguise, the hot Levante spied on the road includes disguised (and likely enlarged) lower air intakes, as well as hidden exhaust tailpipes. Our snapper also reported hearing a distinctive V8 burble from under the bonnet.

With petrol and diesel V6s already available, Maserati will utilise the Ferrari-sourced 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 found in the Quattroporte GTS. With 523bhp and 700Nm of torque in that form, the saloon gets from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and hits 191mph.
The Levante"s 200kg weight penalty and taller, less aerodynamic body shape mean that to replicate those figures Maserati may have to boost power closer to the 542bhp made by the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Revisions to the chassis and more powerful brakes could also feature to help reign in the extra poke.
Given the current flagship Levante, the V6 S GranSport, retails at £76,995, we"ve no doubt that the GTS will be well over £80,000 when it arrives later this year.
